Victim identified in Tuesday killing

A small gun

Julius Armani Miller has been named as the man shot to death in a triple-shooting near Chadbourn Tuesday.
Miller, 20, was gunned down in a Dessie Road home around 11:30 p.m., according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. The other two victims are expected to recover. Their names have not been released.
A second shooting in a Dessie Road home was reported less than 12 hours later. Four people, including a baby, were inside a home when a man fire a shot into the floor and made threats, according to the sheriff’s office report. The man fled in a Cadillac automobile. It is not know if the shootings were connected.
Tuesday’s killing was the fourth in the Chadbourn area this summer, after the first triple-killing in the town’s history occurred at a party on Broadway Road July 2. That case is still under investigation.
Miller and another man were arrested after a melee on West Institute Street in January 2020, records show. Miller and Dakwon “Dodo” Faulk were charged with inciting a riot, firing into an occupied vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon.
In that incident, Faulk and Miller allegedly opened fire on a teenager, who was wounded in the leg. All the windows of a vehicle were shattered, and furniture and a residence were damaged. Both men were released on bond in that incident.
