Thetis Barfield Nobles, age 85 of the China Grove Community in Chadbourn, entered into the portals of Glory on Thursday, August 19, 2021, following a sudden illness.

Thetis was born on September 10, 1935, in Columbus County, to the late Fred and Blanche Nobles Barfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Nobles, her twins, Delane and Delila Nobles, and her grandson, Jeremy Hester.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at China Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Steven Nobles and Rev. Wendall Ray officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:30-3:45, prior to the service on Sunday.

Upon her graduation of East Carolina College (ECU), Thetis became employed with Columbus County Hospital for over 30 years, serving as Unit Secretary. She was a lifelong member of China Grove Missionary Baptist Church, of which she participated in various roles; these roles include former choir member and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include her daughter, Myra Nobles Harrison and husband, Darrell, of the home; grandchildren, Daphne Ward, Cody Hester, Kamie Harrison, Timmy Harrison, Kaylee Hester, Kasey Lane, and Justin Holmes; great-grandchildren, Justin, Austin, Elizabeth, Kaden, Kallie; great-great grandchildren, Jameson, Madalynn, Waylon, Kaden, Kali, Kerra, Kenzley, Dillon, Lawson, Connor, Denim, Tiny, Cam, and Aubrey; siblings, Mack Barfield of Chadbourn, Sudie Wright of Yadkinville, NC; host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Renee Collins.
