Ruth Ellen Maxey Crumpler, age 65 of Whiteville, died suddenly on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at her home.

Ruth Ellen was born on December 30, 1955, in Powhatan, Virginia, to the late James Vernon and Louise Van De Riet Maxey.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021 at Chadbourn Baptist Church with Dr. David Vess, Reverend Steve Bailey and Reverend Neil Smeigh officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of the service at the church.

Ruth Ellen was an accomplished pianist and organist. Her talents were displayed on many occasions at Chadbourn Baptist Church, of which she was a member; Ruth Ellen also enjoyed the beauty of sunflowers. 

Survivors include her husband, Rev. David Richard Crumpler, Associate Pastor of Chadbourn Baptist Church, and her son, Marshall Alexander Crumpler of Wilson.

A service of Worthington Funeral Home, Chadbourn, NC.
