Martha Jane Harris 74, of Whiteville passed on Monday, July 26, 2021 in Fales Hospice Pavilion in Wilmington.  She was born January 22, 1947 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Rackley and Elva Cartrette Harris.  

Martha was a social worker with the Durham County  Department of Social Services for 40 years until her retirement.

She is survived by brothers, Avery Harris and wife, Peggy of Taylors, SC, Harold Harris of Whiteville, George “Buddy” Harris  of Heartford, NC; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Thurman Harris; a step brother, Gene Harris and a step sister, Mary Eakins.

A graveside service will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Willard McPherson officiating.
