Mrs. Lois Simmons Stephens 81, of Whiteville passed on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  She was born September 29, 1939 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Walter Simmons and Retha Lewis Simmons.

She was a member of Peace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edwin Stephens; a daughter, Phyllis McCormick (Perry) of Whiteville; grandchildren, Brandie Kalinowski (Paul) of Alexandria, VA and Brian McCormick (Maria) of Holly Springs; a great granddaughter, Natalie McCormick of Holly Springs,  three brothers, Wayne Simmons (Patsy) of Clarendon, Larry Dale Simmons (Mazie) of Clarendon and Ken Simmons (Carolyn) of Chadbourn; a sister, Gayle Simmons of Whiteville.

Her funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Chip Hannah. Burial will be in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends 1:30 – 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Peacock Funeral Home.
