Gladys Formyduval Phillips, age 91, of Whiteville, died Friday, July 2, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, Whiteville. Gladys was born September 21, 1929, in Columbus County, to the late Joy Jerome and Lillie Batten Formyduval.

Gladys was a founding member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Whiteville, where she served the Lord faithfully until her death. She attended Appalachian State College after High School. Gladys was a Monitor Tech at Columbus Regional Hospital for many years. Gladys’ greatest inspiration in life was for people to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and live eternally in heaven when this life has ended.

In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband, W. J. Phillips, a daughter, Priscilla Ann Phillips; Sisters, Marguerite F. Bornaman, Eudell F. Smith, Evelyn F. White, Ruth F. Kelly; brothers, Herbert T. Formyduval, and Joy Wendell Formyduval.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Mary Phillips Bullard (Mike), and Belinda Phillips Moore, of Whiteville, 3 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Missionary Alliance Church, 323 Warrior Trail, Whiteville on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Scott Crabtree and Rev. David Kelly officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in the Powell Cemetery in Fair Bluff.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Missionary Alliance Church, 323 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC, or to Ambassador Camp, PO Box 200, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450.
