Susan “Sue” McLelland Turner, age 77 of Whiteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  

Sue was born on January 8, 1944 to the late Joel Livingston McLelland, Sr. and Grace Elizabeth Johnson McLelland.  Sue was also preceded in death by two siblings, Betty Jo McLelland Maxwell and Edward A. McLelland.

Sue retired from the NC Department of Transportation.

Final rites will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Conway officiating.  Interment will follow in the Piney Forest Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 PM Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Suzanne Turner Brown and husband, Chris
of Whiteville; siblings, Linda M. Floyd of Delco, Mary M. Nance (Gene) of Cerro Gordo and Joel L. McLelland, Jr.  (Ernestine) of Cerro Gordo; two grandchildren, Chelsea Brown Lucas (Jonathan) of Dunn and Turner Alexander Brown (Kaitlyn) of Greenville; and a great-grandchild, Grace Elizabeth Henry of Dunn.
