Lewis “L.C.” Ransom, Jr. age 83 of Whiteville, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2021 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.

LC was born on June 27, 1937 in Columbus County, to the late Lewis Cooper Ransom, Sr. and Naomi Edwards Ransom. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Fred Ransom, Richard Ransom, Robert Ransom and Bruce Ransom.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Speight officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45, prior to the service.

LC was employed by U.S.D.A for over 50 years; and was the Chief Inspector at Campbell Soup in Maxton, for 32 years. 

LC leaves behind his wife, Lila Pearl Nance Ransom of the home; siblings, Evelyn R. Youngerman of Whiteville, Herman Bullard of Charlotte, and a special pet/companion, Goose.
