The fish were biting Saturday at Lake Tabor, and several area anglers have the prizes to prove it.

The 16th annual Lake Tabor Bass Tournament was sponsored by the Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce. Contestants had from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. to see who would win bragging rights for the event.

Saturday afternoon people gathered around at Lake Tabor as the boats came into dock, pulling out their haul in preparation to be weighed. There were 16 contestants and 14 boats that put in at dawn that morning and headed out on the lake to see who could bring in the biggest fish, as well as the heaviest bundle. The contestants waited in line to weigh their bass as the wind ushered in a much-needed breeze.

John Norris of Tabor City took home the first prize trophy with a bundle weighing in at 20.4 lbs.

After the prizes were handed out and photos were snapped, the event was concluded with a meal for the contestants.

John Norris was all smiles after winning first place overall.
