John Daniel “J.D.” Williams, age 86 of the China Grove Community, Chadbourn, entered into the presence of our Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. 

J.D., as he was lovingly known, was born on August 4, 1934, in Columbus County, to the late James Dock and Doshie McDuffie Willliams. He was also preceded in death by his son, Paul Daniel Williams; siblings, Sally McCoy, Frank Williams, Don Williams, and Mary Ann Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Clarendon Original Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Bobby Cartrette officiating. Interment will follow in the Ward Station Church of God Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Worthington Funeral Home.

J.D. was a faithful member of Clarendon Original Free Will Baptist Church, where he was active in various roles. He was a farmer in the China Grove community for many years.

Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend of 63 years, Eloise Nobles Williams of the home; daughter, Sheila Williams Richardson (Alvin, preceded) of the home; son, John Nobles and wife, Darryl, of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Jonathan Nobles (Amy), Jennifer (Luke) Gemar, Lisa Chappell (Billy); great-grandchildren, Hunter, Caleb, Landon, Paxton, Hannah, Matthew, Carla, Emma; great-great-grandchildren, Autumn, Cason, Easton, and one on the way. Mr. Williams’ siblings include Cathleen Rogers, Ronnie Williams, Bessie Hammonds, Johnny Ray Williams, Esther Babson, and Betty Turbeville.
