UPDATE: Brown’s bond was raised to $750,000.

Detectives say a Whitehall Road man had sex with a child for six years before his arrest.

Gerson Daniel Brown, 24, was arrested April 7 for failure to appear and statutory rape of a child. He was held under $750,000 secured bond. His address was listed as 844 Whitehall Rd., Whiteville.

Sheriff’s investigators were first informed of the alleged acts in August. Brown is alleged to have had vaginal intercourse with the girl multiple times between January 2016 and August 2020, according to the warrants. The assaults started when the child was six and continued until she was 12. Brown was 18 when the alleged assaults began, and they continued until he was 23, according to the warrant.

Brown was arrested in November for communicating threats, according to court records. He was released on an unsecured bond in that case. In December, he was arrested for failure to appear, and again released on bond.
