Three arrested for sex offenses against minors

The sheriff’s office on Monday announced three arrests for sex offenses against minors. 

None of the cases are related, according to the sheriff’s office. All came after extensive investigations.

Andre Shipman

Andre Delmas Shipman, 26 of 5640 Silver Spoon Rd., Whiteville was charged with second degree forcible rape and probation violations after an incident that was reported Dec. 30. His bond was set at $100,000 secured. Shipman was alleged to have raped a 17 year old female. He was taken into custody at the detention center March 1.

Glenn Curley Moore

Glenn Curley Moore, 55, of 43 Five Points Dr., Chadbourn, was arrested on charges of indecent liberties with a child. His bond was set at $5,000. Moore is alleged to have molested a female child on at least two occasions, when she was seven and ten years old. The victim knew Moore, according to the sheriff’s office.

Although Moore was previously convicted of sex charges, his name is not listed on the N.C. Sex Offender Database.

Moore reportedly had multiple referrals from the Department of Social Services for similar violations involving other juveniles, and was previously convicted on unrelated sex charges. He was taken into custody at the sheriff’s office Feb. 25.

James Oscar Betts

James Oscar Betts, 62, was charged with felony indecent liberties with a child after an alleged incident involving a ten year old in January.

The victim in that case also knew her alleged assailant, according to the sheriff’s office. Betts,  gave his address as  187 Sandlewood Rd., Whiteville.

He was arrested March 1, and held under a $75,000 secured bond.
