Father charged with abusing two children

The Peacock Road man facing child abuse charges allegedly choked and struck a child, then forcefed the child while covering his/her mouth and nose. 

Kyle Page Lerwill Lewis, 29, was jailed March 24 on three charges of misdemeanor child abuse. Jail records show his address as 1037 Peacock Rd., Whiteville.

The incidents happened between Christmas and Feb. 7, according to the sheriff’s office.

The mother of the children contacted the sheriff’s office after picking up the children from an extended visit. She noticed several injuries, according to a press release, and contacted the sheriff’s office.

Investigators discovered that Lewis reportedly held a seven-year-old around the neck until the child couldn’t breathe, struck the child “multiple times”. Lewis is also alleged to have pushed food into the child’s mouth. The child had bruises on the neck, back, stomach and chest.

A nine-year-old sibling also had bruises, the report said. 

Lewis was held under a $7,500 secured bond.
