A man on a stolen motorcycle led law enforcement on a high speed chase, then a brief foot pursuit March 2.

Lamarquise Rashaaad Pollard was riding a dirtbike down Madison Street in Whiteville around 1:30 p.m. when two deputies spotted him, according to sheriff’s reports. Pollard had no tags on the dirtbike, and was not wearing a helmet.

When the deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop, the report said, Pollard accelerated and turned down several residential streets trying to evade the officers.

Whiteville Police joined deputies in the pursuit.  He went past Edgewood School, then back to Franklin Street, where he eventually wrecked the motorcycle and fled on foot, the sheriff’s office reported. Pollard was caught and detained after a brief foot chase.

A records check showed the motorcycle was reported stolen in Myrtle Beach.

Pollard, 22, was held under $152,500 secured bond, on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing to elude arrest, two probation violations and multiple traffic citations, including no motorcycle license. His address was listed as3221 Pleasant Plains Church Rd., Whiteville.
