A Wildlife officer investigating a stolen game camera helped deputies make a drug bust at Tabor Correctional Monday.

The sheriff’s office reported that the Wildlife Officer asked for the assistance of a tracking dog after Jasper Locklear allegedly tried to toss a packet of drugs over the fence at TCI. Locklear was also suspected of taking a camera that belonged to the WRC.

K9 Gunny of the Sheriff’s Office gave a positive alert on the car waiting for Locklear beside Willoughby Road at Swamp Fox Highway, and officers found suboxone and cocaine in the vehicle. Locklear and Latasha Bustamanta were arrested, and Vonda Deese, the driver of the car, was given a citation.

Jail reports show that Locklear, 31, of John L. Rd., Maxton, was charged with second degree trespassing and misdemeanor larceny. He could face additional charges. He was held under $1,500 secured bond.

Bustamanta, 29, of South Robeson Road, Rowland, was charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of prescription narcotics. She was held on a $2,500 secured bond.

A criminal summons was issued for Deese for driving while license revoked and fictitious tag, the sheriff’s office said.
