Canal Cove is closed where the canal drains into Lake Waccamaw.

A busy road at Lake Waccamaw will be closed for an indefinite period after it was damaged by high water.
Mayor Daniel Hilburn said on the Lake Waccamaw community Facebook page that Canal Cove Road is closed at the curve just past the State Wildlife Boat Ramp, where the canal flushes into the lake.
“The tiles have washed out and are in need of replacement by NCDOT,” Hilburn said. Canal Cove is a state road maintained by the Department of Transportation.
There is not a timeline on project so the road will be closed for a little while to vehicular traffic, Hilburn said.
