Rape suspect sought

Update: MCCormick is in custody.

Detectives in two counties are searching for an alleged rapist.

James Patrick McCormick, whose last known address was in Evergreen, is wanted for the statutory  rape of an 11-year-old girl in July, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

A Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was called to Columbus Regional Medical Center in reference to a rape. The victim said that she had been raped multiple times, on multiple different occasions, by McCormick, whom she knew.

The incidents occurred in Whiteville.

McCormick is a black male, approximately 6’2” tall and 205 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
