Sheriff’s office, non-profits team up to help needy

You still have a few days to help area families in need with a better Christmas.

The sheriff’s office, community CPR and the Disability Resource Center are sponsoring Adopt a Family. Donors can drop off non-perishable food items at a number of locations across the county.

All donations go to local families in need, said Wallyce Todd of Community CPR. This year, the sheriff’s office is donating proceeds from its No Shave December fundraiser to Adopt A Family. Deputies who donate to the cause can forego shaving for the month. Many in the department anticipated in last month’s No Shave November, which benefitted the Baptist Toy Store.
You can bring donations to the sheriff’s office, Community CPR in Whiteville, Freeman Chiropractic, the Cement Barn in Cerro Gordo, ADR Fire Department, Grapefull Sisters Vineyard and the Tabor city Visitor’s Center.

The deadline for donations is Dec. 18. For more information, call 625-7221.
