A pack of Newport cigarettes usually costs a little over $6, but a pack of smokes is costing a local man much more than that.

Warrants and jail reports show that Joshua Michael Zimmerman, 32, with addresses in Whiteville and Hallsboro, was arrested Dec. 23 on charges of breaking, entering and larceny.

He is alleged to have broken into the Minuteman at Brunswick and stolen one pack of Newport cigarettes Oct. 18. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
