Man reported missing

Update– Gore has been found safe in Wilmington.

A Silver Alert has been issued for a North Whiteville man last seen in the Clarkton area.

Markel Dashan Gore, 22, was last seen on U.S. 701 North in Clarkton. He lives on Red Store Road.

Gore is a black male, with medium length hair and brown eyes. He is 5’8” tall, and weighs 160 pounds. He was wearing black jogging pants, black and white Adiddas shoes and a black shirt when he was last seen.

Chief Deputy Aaron Herring of the Sheriff’s Office said a family friend saw Gore and offered him a ride, but and Gore stated that he was walking to Fayetteville.

Gore has a history of walking away from his home and was previously located in Wilmington. The family has received anonymous tips that Gore has been seen heading to Wilmington. Gore suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder but does not take medication. 

Anyone with information about Gore’s whereabouts is asked to call Det. A. Dicicco at 640.1428.
