Lake Waccamaw fire and police, along with State Park rangers and rescue crews were called to the dam Monday night after a man allegedly set his vehicle on fire.

The call came in at 11:45 p.m., according to Police Chief Scott Hyatt. The vehicle was parked in the state park access area at the dam, on the end of Waccamaw Shores.

The owner of the vehicle was transported by Lake Waccamaw Rescue for evaluation, Hyatt said. The investigation is continuing.
