Nearly a year to the day after he allegedly shot and killed an elderly man’s dog in Brunswick, the suspect faces additional charges after he failed to appear on a charge of cruelty to animals.

Rajjennah Devale Powell, 33, of 329 Mt. Moriah Church Rd., Whiteville, was placed under a $27,000 secured bond. He was arrested Oct. 6, by the sheriff’s office.

Powell allegedly shot Ronnie Faulk’s Labrador retriever multiple times on Oct. 12, 2019, killing the pet. The dog was killed on Faulk’s property. The men were neighbors at the time. When deputies arrived to investigate the killing, they allegedly found Powell in possession of a quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Powell was originally released on bond. He then failed to show up for a court appearance on the crimes on Aug. 20, according to court documents.  District Court Judge Scott Ussery signed the order for his arrest.
