Woman faces multiple identity theft charges

A Nakina woman wasn’t who she allegedly claimed to be, according to warrants.

Katherine Edwards, 29, was arrested Sept. 14 on five charges of identity theft and one of larceny. She was released on an unsecured bond. Edwards listed her address as 1553 Big Cypress Road, Nakina.

In warrants obtained by Det. A. Dicicco, Edwards is alleged to have used Jacqueline Strickland’s birth date and Social Security number to obtain cellular phone service from Verizon, open bank accounts with Bank of America and Charlotte Metro Credit Union, and attempting to open accounts with N.C. Community Credit Union and J.P. Morgan chase. She also allegedly stole a stimulus payment of $2,220 from Jennifer Ann Williams, according to warrants.
