Jack Arnold Thompson

Jack Arnold Thompson, age 69 of Evergreen, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.  He was born on February 26, 1951 in Elizabethtown to the late Jack Thompson and Clara Mae Davis Thompson.

Jack was an avid golfer and a lifelong sports fan. He honorably served his country and was proud to be a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard (Bladenboro). He spent his career with Duke Energy and it’s predecessors for over 40 years retiring in 2019 as a project manager.  

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Jean T. Thompson of the home; three children, Christy T. Bunnell (Steven) of Bladenboro; Jackie T. Strickland (Ronnie) of Evergreen and Tracey S. Thompson  (Joey) of Myrtle Beach, SC;  two sisters, Patricia T. Edge (Wayne) of White Oak and Bonnie G. Thompson of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Gretta, Fallon, Aubree, Drew and Kylie; and one great-grandchild, Alex.

A memorial service was held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Russel Long officiating.  The family visited at the cemetery following the service.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Evergreen Baptist Church.
