Chadbourn woman shot multiple times

A small gun

Gunfire erupted on a residential street in Chadbourn Saturday, leaving a woman with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police Chief Anthony Spivey said the victim, whose name is being withheld, was found between a car and a dog pen after the 2 p.m. shooting.
“The responding officer saw the bulldog in the pen and a group of people standing over the victim,” Spivey said. “He rendered first aid and with other officers, they secured the scene for EMS.”
Officers secured a large area around 212 Smith Street, blocking the area off between Church and Clark.

No other individuals were reported hurt, Spivey said, although people were in the area at the time of the shooting.

This is a developing story.
