One man is in jail and another recovering after a shooting near Tabor City Thursday.

Ronnie Junior Dixon, 44, is being held under $32,500 secured bond, charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury resisting an officer and drug charges.

Deputies were called to 117 Pine Circle Drive around 8:37 p.m. Thursday after a man had been shot. Deputies found Robert Thomas Barnes, 34, of Tabor City lying in the roadway. EMS transported Barnes to an area hospital.

On further investigation, deputies were told that Barnes was shot on Clyde Norris Road and made his way back to Pine Circle. Dixon and Barnes allegedly had an argument while Barnes was still in his vehicle. Dixon then reportedly reached through the window and struck Barnes, who got out to confront Dixon. The suspect then pulled a handgun and opened fire.

Deputies found Dixon a short time later, walking down Clyde Norris. At first he gave a false name, the report said, but deputies eventually determined his true identity. He was taken into custody.

Dixon’s address was listed as 121 Smith Ave., Tabor City.
