Local woman dies from crash injuries

A Whiteville woman has died from injuries sustained in a June collision in Brunswick County.

Melissa Ashley Madison, 39, of Hallsboro Road South, died in an area hospital Saturday from injuries sustained in a June 25 collision in Brunswick County. Madison was on her way to work, driving south on U.S. 17, when she attempted to make a left turn. Her 1999 Ford automobile was struck in the driver’s side by a 2007 GMC truck driven by Glen David Michalske of Southport.

Madison had been on life support since the crash.

Madison is survived by her son, parents, and three sisters.
