An undercover operation led to the arrest of a Paul Barnes Road man on drug charges.

Wayland Benjamin Owens of Paul Barnes Road, Chadbourn was jailed after citizen complaints led to a raid on his home July 1. He was held under a $25,000 secured bond, charged with possession of a stolen firearm, drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver crack cocaine and marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for drug activities.

Following a series of calls by concerned citizens, the Vice-Narcotics unit began an undercover operation at Owens’ home. The informant allegedly purchased crack cocaine from Owens, the sheriff’s office said.

On July 1, the SWAT team and detectives executed a search warrant on the home, and recovered a stolen 9mm handgun, crack cocaine, and marijuana, the sheriff’s office said.
