Boat parade celebrates Independence, supports president

Wildlife Enforcement officers will be performing extra safety patrols through the Memorial Day holiday as part of Boating Safety Week.

It was a big weekend across Columbus County as the nation celebrated Independence Day. Saturday saw the first ever patriotic flotilla, also called the Trump Parade, at Lake Waccamaw. Organizers estimated between 100 and 200 boats participated. The flotilla started at the Lake Waccamaw Dam, where Alma Galloway got the American spirit going with the National Anthem.

Both landings at Lake Waccamaw were busy Saturday as hundreds of boaters of all ages took to the water to enjoy Independence Day.

Organizers hope to have another parade supporting President Trump over the Labor Day weekend.
